Eggendorf circuit, Hartberg

Open
From the pilgrimage church in Lebing, follow in the footsteps of the pilgrims for part of the way towards Heiligenbrunn via St. Johann in der Haide and back via Eggendorf to Hartberg.

The Lebingau, a protected part of the landscape, with the pilgrimage church of Maria Lebing and the Pack Inn, sufficient parking and undisturbed peace and quiet, is the optimal starting and ending point for a hike. Passing the Saknkl Kreuz and the Hartberger Gmoos via Safenau, we reach the Hochfeldern, which offer a wonderful view of the villages and churches in the surrounding area. Hartberg city parish church, monastery church, Maria Lebing church, Schölbing church, as well as the church in St. Johann in der Haide can be seen here. In St. Johann you can take a break at the Kirchenwirt, which is located directly on the trail. The Eckweg is a high trail between St. Johann and Grafendorf and offers views of the valleys on two sides as well as a wonderful view of the Hockwechsel. The Tarbauer Martel commemorates a tragic accident at this spot that cost the life of a young man. Due to its good cuisine, the Eggendorfwirt is a popular inn in the area, both with locals and out-of-towners. On the way from Eggendorf to Hartberg, on the "Amtweg", there is the "Amtwegkreuz", a storey wayside shrine.

Hartberg with its historic old town, the parish church, the charnel house and much more is certainly worth an extra visit. In Grazserstraße is the statue of St. Nepomuk, the monastery, and in front of it the niche chapel with a crucifixion group from the 13th century.
