  • Coming from Liezen: Turn right before the bridge overpass at Trautenfels Castle and take the 3rd exit at the traffic circle towards Irdning. Follow this road, which leads over a railroad crossing and over the Enns bridge. Turn left at the village sign and park at the large parking lot of the Irdning recreational facility/sports field.
From the starting point at the Irdning leisure center, the route first leads towards Falkenburg and past the Capuchin monastery on the Sonntagsweg. After crossing the B75, the route continues towards Donnersbach - via Raumbergstraße to Gumpenstein Castle and the LFZ Raumberg.

Through green meadows and along the Raumbergweg you finally reach Donnersbach, which you follow to the entrance to Donnersbach. Iat the end of the village, turn right towards the small hydroelectric power station and follow the Fuchsbergweg - a quiet passage with sweeping views.

At Fuchsberg, you cross the B75 again and enter the Donnersbachklamm gorge - a highlight of the tour. The gorge runs spectacularly along the course of the stream and leads you back to Donnersbach. There, the route climbs up to the Rüschersiedlung and continues above the road through the forest.

You can take a short break for a drink at the Johannquelle spring before continuing along the Eibisweg trail to Winklern. There you turn left, follow the Erlsbergweg and finally take the Katzensteinsteig back to Falkenburg and the starting point in Irdning.
The Donnersbachklamm gorge is not just a scenic highlight - the shady path along the stream is particularly refreshing on hot days. Take your time to enjoy the impressive rock formations and the rippling of the water.

By train to “Stainach-Irdning” and then by bus 940/941 to “Irdning Abzweigung Donnersabch” or get on the running circuit directly behind the station.
