Your tour starts at Trautenfels railway station or in the neighbouring car park. From there, you hike up to Trautenfels Castle. At the local hiking portal, follow the signs towards the Neuhaus church ruins and Grimminghütte. You hike past the Raumberg-Gumpenstein Bioinstitut and the Neuhaus church ruins. The mighty Grimming mountain is visible in front of you the whole time. At the crossroads shortly after the church ruins, turn right and follow the marked path to Untergrimming. You will reach the small village and turn left onto the main road until the Kapuzinersteig branches off to the right.
This will take you up to the village of Pürgg. Here it is worth visiting the parish church of St. George and the adjoining cemetery. The view down to the castle, the Ennsboden and westwards to the Grimming is impressive. Passing the Krenn inn and St. John's Chapel, you hike down from Pürgg towards Unterburg. You walk a short distance towards Stainach and then via the Schranz farm back to Trautenfels to your starting point
