Eisenerzer Reichenstein

Scenically very beautiful climb along the well-known North-South long-distance hiking trail.Wonderful deep view of the Erzberg and Eisenerz as well as the Vordernberger valley. The mountain tour is located in the ERZBERG LEOBEN region.
From the inn "Präbichlerhof" through the Grübl (3 steep steps) to the Rösselhals. There you change to the Eisenerz side and cross a steep grassy slope. Soon you reach a fork in the path, here there are two options:

a) Via the "Steinerne Stiege"'

Follow the path until you reach the rocks, from here the path leads up a few meters on a rocky head, secured by ladders. Over several hairpin bends you reach the summit (only for sure-footed mountain hikers).

b) Normal path

From the junction, take the right path and thus avoid the rocky upswing. You reach the summit via several hairpin bends.

More information

From the south: via St. Michael in Upper Styria to the Eisenerz Präbichl via Trofaich. From the north: from the Enns Valley from Liezen via Hieflau and through Eisennerz to the Präbichl.
From the "Präbichler Hof" we hike along the marked trail through the Grübl uphill and over several steep steps to the Rösselhals (1770m), from here we continue in a southerly direction over the uphill scree ridge to the so-called "Stiege" (iron staircase, which leads over a rocky steep step). The "Stiege" can also be bypassed via the path branching off below the rock walls. After joining the two trails, the path leads up the rugged northern slope, finally keeping left to the summit of the Reichenstein.Descent as ascent.
Wonderful mountain hike high above the pass of the Präbichl. The Erzberg, Hochschwab, Eisenerz Alps, Gesäuse Mountains and large parts of the Niedere Tauern lie at the feet of the mountain hiker who makes the effort to climb the Reichenstein. The refuge is open daily from May to October.
Take the ÖBB bus to the Präbichl parking lot.
