Graz

A romantic little spot high above the city.

The Starcke House on the Graz Schlossberg has a long history. Originally built in the 16th century as a powder tower, it was transformed into a small winemaker's cottage with neo-Gothic elements in the early 19th century. Surrounded by vineyards and vegetable gardens, it later served as a summer residence for the actor and poet Gustav Starcke. Here, he wrote texts capturing the unique atmosphere of the Schlossberg, which gave the house its name. The view over the city, the tranquil location, and the historical building structure make the building a place with its own charm to this day.

Since the late 1990s, the Starcke House has been operated as a restaurant. Chef Milivoj Novak focuses on a fine combination of regional products with Mediterranean influences. Seasonal menus reflect the diversity of ingredients, some of which come from its own cultivation. This results in dishes that impress with precise preparation and creative combinations. The view from the terrace and the special ambiance of the historic building complete the experience, making a visit a moment where history and culinary arts harmoniously meet.
