Graz

Streetfood Tradition in Graz.

The stands at Graz's main square have long become part of the cityscape and are no longer conceivable without the city. Stand 12 is named “weil's wurscht ist.” The phrase is a play on words – in German “Wurst” means sausage, while in Austrian slang “wurscht” also means “it doesn’t matter.” The name can therefore be read both literally and with a wink.

On the menu you’ll find exactly what you’d expect from a Würstelstand: Käsekrainer, Debreziner, Frankfurter, and bratwurst. In addition, there are Leberkäs semmeln, currywurst with a special sauce, hot dog variations, and even special rolls with pork chops.

A highlight is the vegan “Maulheld” – a schnitzel burger in whole grain bread with a plant-based patty, lettuce, bell pepper, onions, and a sauce made from pumpkin seed oil, soy, and garlic. With this, Stand 12 expands the classic sausage offerings with a modern alternative and shows that even plant-based options have a place at the main square.
