Luegghaus

Graz

Playful details and historical façade.

At the bustling corner between the main square and Sporgasse, the Luegghaus with its Baroque facade immediately attracts all attention. The richly decorated stucco facade, interspersed with garlands of flowers and fruits, hides small surprises upon closer inspection: stylized mouths and noses incorporated into the design give the building playful details that turn it into a true work of art.

The name "Luegghaus" likely derives from the expression "to peek around the corner" and refers to the building's prominent corner location. Built in the 17th century, it is one of the most significant secular buildings in the Graz old town. Today, it houses the Swarovski Boutique Graz, whose sparkling interior provides an exciting contrast to the historic architecture.

Here, Baroque architecture and modern elegance meet. A stroll through the old town becomes a visual experience – one discovers details, marvels, and happily pauses for a moment. The Luegghaus is one of those historic buildings that give the Graz Region its special character.
