From fried chicken to ostrich egg

The 21 km long Feinspitz tour for families and culinary connoisseurs is the insider tip among the pleasure bike tours: the starting point of this tour is the 33-meter high Kneipp, exercise and observation tower in Auffen, near the Backhendlwirt Schneider, which is widely known for its crispy fried chicken.

Enjoyment between the Großharter Nartur pond and the 2 thermal spa region of Bad Waltersdorf

From this exposed point you start - for the time being always along the plateau - in the direction of Bad Waltersdorf. Still in Auffen, the art smith Max Ertl with his high-quality blacksmith's art and Anita and Walter Janisch with eight different kinds of honey entice you as you pass by.

After the village of Harras, the route continues gently downhill towards Neustift. Already from afar you can see the magnificent "wedding castle" Obermayerhofen and reach Sebersdorf, where the Buschenschank Seidl with Styrian delicacies for the physical well-being and the studio of the sculptor Rudi Pichler provide aesthetic pleasure.

The journey continues at a leisurely pace to the H20 Hotel- Therme-Resort Sebersdorf, which promises bathing fun, amused children and thermal well-being.

Recovered and in a good mood, the journey continues to the Piwetz Mill with its fresh Styrian pumpkin seed oil and its delicacies from the mill store, before arriving at the spa town of Bad Waltersdorf along the thermal railroad: here the Roman Stone Museum, the spa park with its flowers, fountain, pond and fragrant herb beds await. And the Gasthof Fischer and the Safenhof, which has been crowned with an honorable mention, invite you to take a break and stop for a bite to eat.

From Bad Waltersdorf, the route now climbs moderately at first and then a little more challengingly in the direction of Waltersdorfberg to Gasthof Erhardt: here at the latest, if you have not already succumbed to the "culinary temptations", you will stop off and fortify yourself with seasonal specialties.

Back on the heights, you cycle leisurely to the Harter Naturteich, which is a true paradise for nature, bird and water lovers. Of course, a culinary address right by the lake also beckons here: the Harter Teichschenke of the Wurzer family offers Buschenschank specialties from their own production and fruit juices for the children.

A true insider tip is a walk around the lake - an educational trail here provides information about the nature reserve with its special features.

Past the "school sports village" with its pile-dwelling huts, we head back toward the starting point, where we get up close and personal with the largest ratites on earth at the ostrich farm and, at the Lindenwirt, are impressed by the core oil egg dish and many ostrich specialties.

Conclusion: On the Feinspitz tour, no one has ever managed to get through with only one Schmankerl enjoyment rest...

Pack your hunger, because on the Feinspitz tour no one has ever managed to get through with only one Schmankerl Genussrast...
