Do you feel like escaping the confines of everyday life? This special hike will inspire you. Even the starting point in the beautiful spa town of Bad Gams is special. The place is famous for its healing waters. These are iron springs containing magnesium, whose healing effect you can feel when you taste it in the Kipper drinking hall.

Right at the start you will pass the Kirchenwirt Nabernik. You can fortify yourself for the hike with the wonderful delicacies of the region.

A first highlight of this tour is the Stainzer Warte. Enjoy the view of the nearby Koralpe to neighbouring Slovenia and over the flat Grazer Feld. You hike on to the Gamsegg.

The next vantage point on this tour awaits you at Hohenfeld. In good weather, you can see as far as Riegersburg Castle in Eastern Styria. After you have taken the opportunity to take many photos, trail 39 leads you further in the direction of Greim.

Via the Siggerigraben you return to Bad Gams.

After starting in the centre of Bad Gams, follow trail marker 39. In the spa park you have the opportunity to get a hiking map of the region, in which all the important stations of this hike are described. With the help of a QR code, you can also download it to your smartphone.

Soon you will reach the striking wooden tower, the Weinbergwarte, with its fantastic view. At the top, you can leave everyday life behind for good and just let your mind wander. Here you can see the wonderful contrasts that make Western Styria so unique.

The hiking trail leads you further to Gamsegg, where you will find well-chilled drinks in a fountain at the crossroads of the Weinbergweg and Panoramaweg trails. For a small donation, you can refresh yourself and recharge your batteries.

Well fortified and in a good mood, you continue along the Hohenfeld. As the name suggests, it is a leisurely section of the tour and you have the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent view over the Schilcherland. In every season, this special region has its own charm. But when the vine blossoms in spring or the Schilcher grapevines shine in colourful hues in autumn, you know you have chosen the right season for your tour.

After about 650 metres, the trail continues in the forest, which provides the necessary cooling, especially on hot summer days. The next two kilometres on your hike take you past typical farmhouses with their beautiful balcony flowers, which make a great photo motif.

Via Greim and the Siggerigraben you hike back to Bad Gams. Take the opportunity to stop at one of the typical wine taverns (Buschenschank) to chat about the wonderful hike over a glass of Schilcher and a hearty snack.

The unique experiences on this day will remind you of this excursion many times and make you want to return soon.

The Weinbergwarte: a striking wooden tower with a fantastic view of the Schilcherland. When you arrive at the control room, you can leave everyday life behind for good and just let your mind wander. Here you can see the wonderful contrasts that make the Schilcherland so unique.
