National holiday at Rein Abbey

Gratwein-Straßengel

Festive worship service with music and agape at Stift Rein for the commemoration of the name.

This year, the National Holiday is celebrated in honor of Margrave Leopold the Strong at the venerable Stift Rein. On October 26, 2025, worshippers will gather in the Stiftsbasilika Rein for a festive service with Abbot Pius Maurer from the Stift Lilienfeld. The choir "Pro ecclesia" and the Reiner Quartet will provide musical accompaniment for the mass.

A special highlight is the Sound Cloud in honor of the founder, composed by Rudolf Bodingbauer. The Blasmusikverband Graz Nord will perform under the direction of district conductor Franz Kniepeiss. Sacred sounds and Styrian brass music create an atmospheric memorial ambiance.

Afterwards, the Stiftshof invites you to the traditional Agape with monastery soup and Leopoldibrot. In the historically significant setting, the day concludes with conversations and quiet moments – a festive occasion in the heart of the Graz experience region.
