The opera Idomeneo by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will be performed multiple times at the Graz Opera House starting on September 27, 2025. In this classic work (KV 366, premiered in 1781), director Philipp Westerbarkei portrays the inner turmoil of a war-torn King of Crete – torn between state duty and family responsibility due to a fateful oath.
The main roles are played by Dmitry Ivanchey as Idomeneo, Idamante will be portrayed by Sofia Vinnik or Anna Brull, Elettra by Marjukka Tepponen or Nadja Stefanoff, Ilia by Ekaterina Solunya, the High Priest by Jianwei Liu, and the Oracle by Daeho Kim – accompanied by the choir and women's and men's choir of the Graz Opera. The musical direction alternates between Johannes Braun and Stefan Birnhuber depending on the performance day.
The performances take place on the main stage of the opera house. Ticket prices range from € 8 to € 89, depending on the date and category.
