Festive orchestral concert in the Stefaniensaal with youth & regional orchestra for the Koralmbahn

The “Bahn frei! Concert for the Opening of the Koralmbahn” will take place on November 24, 2025 at the Stefaniensaal of the Congress Graz. The Styrian Youth Symphony Orchestra will meet the Upper Carinthian Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Hans Brunner and Thomas Platzgummer, featuring oboist Sophia Brunner as the soloist – a musical bridge between two federal states.

The diverse program includes:

Mendelssohn: Overture to “A Midsummer Night's Dream”
Prokofiev: Suite from “Romeo and Juliet”
Shostakovich: Suite from “Hamlet”

The performance symbolizes the finale of 26 years of construction for the Koralmbahn, which will connect Graz and Klagenfurt in just 45 minutes starting in December 2025. The youthful orchestras represent new beginnings and musical vigor – fitting for the mobile modernity project in southern Austria.
