Where the Terenbachalm transitions into vast mountain meadows and the view extends to the hills of Western Styria, lies the Oskar Schauer House / Sattelhaus – a retreat full of tranquility, flavor, and warmth. As the starting and ending point of the Terenbachalm circular hiking trail, the hut is an ideal starting point for discoveries amidst the beautiful Lipizzaner homeland.

On the mountain, double rooms, triple rooms, and two dormitories are available. Each room features running cold water, and a communal shower with hot water complements the simple but cozy hut offerings. Behind the house, the Ottohütte provides free emergency accommodation for hikers.

Culinarily, the Sattelhaus impresses as an excellent Culinary Styrian hut and was named Nature Friends’ Hut of the Year in 2025. Hearty local delicacies, homemade specialties, as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes are served – freshly prepared, regional, and with a generous portion of love.

A place where time passes more slowly – in harmony with nature and a warm welcome.
