At an altitude of 1,600 meters, far away from street noise and everyday life, lies the Gleinalm-Schutzhaus – a place to arrive and breathe deeply. Accessible only on foot, surrounded by alpine landscapes and panoramic views over the Graz Region, it offers tranquility for hikers, pilgrims, and nature lovers.
Cooking is done with what the region has to offer: seasonal, fresh, and when possible, in organic quality. Hearty soups, classic snacks, and pastries reminiscent of childhood often come directly from local businesses – preferably delivered without packaging and lovingly prepared. The rooms exude a mountain lodge charm with renovated farm cupboards and old wooden beds; shower and toilet are located in the hallway. Breakfast awaits in the cozy parlor.
Open from mid-May to mid-September (depending on snow conditions), the shelter is only accessible on foot outside the pilgrimage days of the Church of Maria Schnee.
