A large part of the Graz Bergland is located in the Graz Region, so although the Schöckl (1,445 m) is not the highest elevation, it is by far the most striking and also the most popular. It offers a variety of attractions and experiences for the whole family. North of Graz, however, there are many more peaks - around 25 - waiting to be discovered, including insider tips for climbers of all ages. Some examples are: Gschaidberg, Hochtrötsch, Kreuzkogel, Pleschkogel, Hohe Rannach, Schartnerkogel and many more.
The Gleinalpe (or Gleinalm) is the longest and widest mountain range in the adventure region and stretches along the western edge from the north over the Gleinalm Speikkogel (1,988 m) to the south, where the high alpine pastures merge into the Pack- and Stubalpe. The most important long-distance hiking trails lead across this mountain range and pilgrims also meet at the Gleinalm refuge on the West Styrian Way of St. James. Prominent peaks here are: Hochalpe, Fensteralpe, Eiblkogl, Lärchkogel, Speikkogel and many more.
