Weizer Almenland bike tour, variant 3, alternative route, St. Kathrein/Offenegg – Weiz

This alternative route leads from St. Kathrein via Arzberg to Weiz.
The Weiz Almenland Cycle Tour connects the district capital of Weiz with the Almenland. With this tour, a seamless cycle path connection was created from the Hungarian border town of Szentgotthard (Raabtalradweg) to the Almenland.

More information

The district capital of Weiz is located in eastern Styria and is very easy to reach via the A2 motorway from Vienna (approx. 2 hrs) and Graz (approx. 30 min).                                                             
  • Arrival from Vienna and from Graz:

On the A2 coming from Vienna and from Graz, take motorway exit 161 / Gleisdorf West in the direction of B54/B64. Follow the B65 / Gleisdorfer Bundesstraße until you reach the B54 / Wechselbundesstraße. At the roundabout, take the second exit north to the B64 / Rechberg-Bundesstraße. After approx. 15 km you will reach the town of Weiz.

  • From Graz via the main road: Take Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Kai and Wickenburggasse to Jahngasse / B67a. Follow the B72 to Weiz and take the exit towards Weiz -West.

Route planner

  • The tour starts from St. Kathrein/Offenegg and runs past the Karl-Wirt, through Schmied in der Weiz, Pichl and over Hofstatt.
  • The trail continues through Lamm and Haufenreith and over the Sandberg.
  • Passing the Katerloch and Grasslhöhle show caves in Dürntal, which are well worth seeing, the trail leads back through Leska and Göttelsberg to the main square in Weiz.

There are plenty of places to stop for a well-deserved break along the route.
