Further information: Inn Schanz
  • We start our hike on the Schanz at the Alpengasthof Schanz
  • From there we follow the Zentralalpenweg 02 and part of the Mariazell trail 06A towards Stanglalpe until we reach an important crossroads at the Walserkreuz
  • Here we take the turn-off to the left towards Stanglalpe (while the Zentralalpenweg continues to the right towards Alpl)
  • The route is very well marked, it is almost impossible to get lost
  • After about 2 km we reach a charming alpine meadow with horses, crosses and shrines
  • After a relaxing rest at the Waldheimat-Schutzhaus Stanglalm, we make a short detour to the summit cross of the Stanglalpe and then hike the same route back to the Schanz.
  • Alternatively, you can also hike from the Stanglalpe in the direction of Mitterdorf into the Stanzertal valley
  • Here, trail no. 723 leads first and then trail no. 722 continues. Steeper forest paths alternate with flatter passages across clearings
  • We have very beautiful viewpoints to Mitterdorf and into the Mürztal valley
  • However, this path is very demanding with an elevation gain of around 850 meters and no longer leads us to our starting point
