Perforated stone circuit, Vorau

Embark on a mysterious journey and learn exciting facts from earlier times.
On this circular trail you can admire the unique prehistoric long stones - perforated stones. Some of them are still in their original place. The history around this prehistoric stone setting is conveyed by information boards. Start and end point of the circular walk is the Mostgut and Buschenschank Kuchlbauer in Riegersberg. Refreshments are available at the Mostgut.

Vorau is located in the East Styrian hill country at an altitude of between 470 and 1248 meters.

By car:
From Vienna:
A2 exit Pinggau - Rohrbach-Vorau - Riegersbach

From Graz: A2 exit Pinkafeld or Hartberg - Rohrbach - Vorau - Riegersbach

  • We start at the Mostgut and Buschenschank Kuchlbauer
  • We follow the brown signs
  • Already now we can see the first perforated stones
  • At the end of the dirt road we turn right into the forest and cross the brook.
  • After the brook we continue to the left until we reach the field path again
  • Here we could turn right to get back to the starting point
  • We go on and come to an asphalted road
  • There we turn left and then we turn right into the housing estate.
  • At the end of the settlement we turn left and follow the signposts
  • We come to an asphalted road and turn further ahead onto the main road
  • After a short uphill stretch we are back on the road towards Mostgut and Buschenschank Kuchlbauer
A snack at the Buschenschank Kuchlbauer is a must. Enjoy the homemade products.
