Alpenvereinshütte on the Stanglalpe, directly on the Mariazeller Weg. Ideal for pilgrimage groups, birthday parties etc.
In winter heated winter room. Open all year round Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, open on weekdays for groups of 5 or more people.

    Life in the hut
    The cottage is managed all year round on weekends and holidays. There are always snacks. Hot food on request. Children can play safely on the mountain meadow around the hut. This requires your imagination or that of your parents. There is no playground. But you don't have to. The nature around the cottage creates enough incentives to be discovered.


    Good to know
    Water, electricity and toilets available. Showers can only be done from May to October. Mobile reception is limited and highly dependent on the respective network operator and its network quality. Luggage transport possible after consultation with the hut warden or the respective volunteer hut keepers. Cabin sleeping bag duty! Cash payment! Overnight stays with a dog must be clarified in advance of a visit.

Arrival

From the Alpengasthof Schanz (1,169 m) in Fochnitz near Fischbach, follow the Styrian Mariazellerweg past the Hochpursschling and over the Bear Plains to the farmed Stanglalm. You leave the Alm on the left, as behind it is within easy reach of the Leopold Wittmaier hut.

Alternative routes: from Mitterdorf-Veitsch (589 m, via Fuerhauptkogel, 2 hours); from Wartberg (575 m, either via Spregnitzgraben and Gregerbauer or via Die Gmoa and Hiasbauer, 2 hours); from Stanz (668 m, via Jagdhaus Ahrer, 2:30); from Krieglach (626 m, via Gasthof Postmhle and Fressnitzkogel, 3:30 h); from Kindberg (555 m, via Gasthof Ochnerbauer or Toschbach and Fuchseck, 4 hours).
