Awarded: "Am Schwalbenhof" is now a Styrian Nature Show Garden
Here it greens, blossoms and thrives without pesticides, synthetic chemical fertilisers and peat: the show garden "Am Schwalbenhof" of Wolfgang Seidl and Kerstin Teubl from "Natur im Garten" was awarded the Styrian Nature Show Garden plaque for its sustainable and organic management.
Nature in the garden
Recently, the show garden "Am Schwalbenhof" in Bierbaum an der Safen/Municipality of Bad Blumau was awarded the plaque as a nature show garden. This makes the nature show garden of Wolfgang Seidl and Kerstin Teubl one of a total of 23 nature show gardens in Styria. "This is something very special for us. It was only in 2015 that we built our garden from scratch, from a conventional field, into a small garden paradise with great diversity," the two are pleased to say.
The plaque was awarded by the "Nature in the Garden" association and is a movement supported by the province of Lower Austria that promotes the ecologisation of gardens and green spaces. The core criteria of the "Nature in the Garden" movement stipulate that gardens and green spaces are designed and maintained without pesticides, without synthetic chemical fertilisers and without peat. Great importance is attached to biological diversity and design with native and ecologically valuable plants.
Show garden open to visitors
The show garden, where Seidl and Teubl have already welcomed bus groups including garden expert Angelika Ertl-Marko, also includes a typical farm garden, which is partly used for self-sufficiency. The nature show garden "Am Schwalbenhof" is also regularly open to visitors. The dates are announced on the website.
