Tour 74a - MTB - Untere Bodenhütte
A beautiful, slightly ascending route tour that leads from cycle junction no. 74 in St. Marein near Knittelfeld through the long, shady Feistritzgraben to the Untere Bodenhütte at 1,385 m in the Seckau Alps in the Murtal region.
This tour starts at the sports field in St. Marein bei Knittelfeld and leads us on an asphalt road north to St. Martha to cycle junction no. 74, on to the district of Prankh and Wasserleith and into the Feistritzgraben.
On the right-hand side you will see Wasserleith Castle, which is now a Caritas nursing home. Here we head straight towards Bodenhütte, after a few hundred meters the route changes from asphalt to a forest path.
The route continues straight ahead along the Feistritzgraben, always slightly uphill along the stream. The first refreshment stop is about halfway along the route at the Pulvermacherhütte. You have to turn right for this, the refreshment stop is well signposted.
The route leads you straight ahead again and on rough gravel to the "Untere Bodenhütte", which is open in the summer months. The Untere Bodenhütte is located at 1,385m. Here you have time for a relaxing snack with a great view of the surrounding mountains of the Seckau Alps.
The return journey is always leisurely downhill on the same route. The rustic "Göttfrieds Speckhütt'n" in Wasserleith on the right-hand side is also a good place to stop for refreshments before returning to the starting point in St. Marein.
