Small Kalkberg trail

The “Kleine Kalkbergloipe” can be groomed from as little as 15cm and leads beautifully, but always with smaller climbs, over the fantastically sunny high plateau in the middle of the Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen Nature Park.
The trail leads gently across meadows and fields. Across the meadows and fields of the Kalkberg farmers and through the forests of the Dürnberger Moor, you can glide away from the stress of everyday life in the winter sun.

By car from Germany
From Munich via the A8 towards Salzburg. From Salzburg on the A10 Tauernautobahn to St. Michael im Lungau. Take the B 96 to Tamsweg, then continue on the B 95 to Predlitz. The B 97 leads via Stadl/Mur to Murau. At the traffic circle there, turn right towards St. Lambrecht as far as Murau railroad station and continue left over the level crossing towards St. Lambrecht. Via Laßnitz near Murau you reach St. Lambrecht, which is already in the nature park. On the main road from St. Lambrecht to Mariahof, drive through the village of St. Blasen on the main road and approx. 1km after the town sign, turn right shortly after the bridge towards Schilcherhof or Dürnberger Moor.
Arrival from Eastern Austria/Hungary
At the highway junction in St. Michael bei Leoben, take the S 36 towards Klagenfurt. Drive past Knittelfeld and Judenburg to Scheifling. In Scheifling continue in the direction of Klagenfurt to Neumarkt, via Unzmarkt and Perchau am Sattel you reach Neumarkt. There turn right towards Murau, in Mariahof after the railroad crossing turn left towards St. Lambrecht. On the main road to St. Lambrecht, turn left after the incline (before the bridge) towards Schilcherhof or Dürnberger Moor.
Arrival from southern Austria / Italy
Via Klagenfurt on the B 83 past St. Veit/Glan, Treibach and Friesach. In Friesach continue towards Vienna, via Dürnstein and Wildbad to Neumarkt. After the town center turn left towards Murau, in Mariahof turn left after the railroad crossing towards St. Lambrecht. On the main road to St. Lambrecht, after the incline (before the bridge) turn left towards Schilcherhof or Dürnberger Moor.
The starting point of this trail is the Schilcherhof. From here, the route runs to the right along the Forstgraben to the “Moorstüberl”. At the “Moorstüberl” we turn around and walk back towards the starting point. We have to briefly cross the side road and turn off again towards Linka to get back to the starting point.
The ideal time for this cross-country skiing route is from December to March.
