Turracher Höhe (1,763 m), the high plateau between Carinthia and Styria, showcases itself as an idyllic natural jewel from June to October.
With its three mountain lakes (Turracher See, Grünsee and Schwarzsee), covered by Austria’s largest contiguous stone pine forests, and surrounded by undulating but still imposing peaks, this is where nature lovers and those seeking recreation as well as hikers and mountaineers find their perfect spot. Families and their activities are warmly welcome on the Turracher Höhe where they find a whole host of services and highlights, such as the alpine Nocky Flitzer roller coaster and the family fun world of Nocky’s AlmZeit.
Blessed with very special natural attractions, the mountain summer invites visitors to the Turracher Höhe. The natural setting around the Turracher Höhe is characterized by stone pine – a rare tree that is not found in many parts of the world and is described as being in the largest contiguous stone pine forest in Europe.
Its altitude is beneficial in many ways – one very special fact that should be emphasized is that it is virtually completely pollen-free. How pleasant not to be tortured by hay fever or other pollens, as you are in the valley. It’s also worth mentioning that the clear mountain air of the Turracher Höhe is also especially good, even regardless of its low pollen count, which many years of monitoring have shown.
