On the occasion of the 950th anniversary of the Benedictine monastery, there will be a monthly exploration of various areas of the history, spirituality, and current responsibilities of the monastery – This time with Former Abbot Benedikt Plank on the founding of the monastery in the 11th century.
According to tradition, the founder of the St. Lambrecht Monastery, Margrave Markward of Eppenstein, passed away on June 16, 1076. Traditionally, anniversaries have been set from that year onward. Thus, 2026 marks the 950th anniversary, which begins with the New Year's Eve Mass on December 31, 2025. Larger and smaller events will accompany the anniversary year 2026, providing the opportunity not only to reflect on a rich history but also to bring awareness to the current life and activities of the monastery and to dare to look towards the future.
