Schöcklland tour
This varied cycling tour connects the bustling center of Graz with the green landscapes of the Schöcklland region. It delights with fascinating sights, stunning views, and beautiful natural scenery – all just outside the city.
The cycling route begins in the historic Stadtpark of Graz and leads through the charming university district, past the Botanical Gardens and greenhouses, to Hilmteich. From there, one of the most scenic cycling paths in Graz (HR5) follows the creek of the same name all the way to Mariatrost. Just after the Tramway Museum, a short but steep climb leads up to the Kirchberg and the well-known Basilica Mariatrost.
After a visit and a short break, the route continues along Roseggerweg through shady forests and scenic ridge paths via Schaftalberg and Fasslberg. The trail then descends Eidexberg and follows cycle lanes before reaching the popular swimming lake in Kumberg.
From here, the route steadily climbs to the well-known Kreuzwirt and continues to the health resort of St. Radegund at the foot of Graz’s local mountain, the Schöckl. Highlights here include the historic Kalvarienberg. If you have more time, you can explore one of the beautiful spring trails (*Quellenwege*) or enjoy a visit to the local outdoor pool in summer.
From St. Radegund, the signposted panoramic cycling path (GU3) leads to Hohenberg, before a steep descent takes you down to Mölten. The well-designed cycling route (HR4) follows the Schöcklbach stream back to Andritz and continues to the Murradweg, which takes you right into the center of Graz.
