Snowshoe hike to the Mariazeller Bürgeralpe with starting point in Mariazell
We start in Mariazell and hike along the Sebastiani Rosary Trail to the Mitterbach/Mariazell turnoff. Here straight ahead in the direction of Habertheuersattel, there keep right and follow the signpost. Pass the crystal lake and the Edelweiss hut until you reach the mountain inn.

Coming from Graz:

A9 Phyrnautobahn north, then S35 Brucker Schnellstraße and S6 Semmering Schnellstraße to Kapfenberg exit, then on the B20 (Mariazeller Bundesstraße) 49 km north (signpost).

Alternative: S6 Semmeringschnellstraße to exit St. Marein and then over the Pogusch to Turnau and from Au on the B20 to Mariazell.

Coming from Salzburg:

Take the A1 Westautobahn to the Ybbs exit, then the B25 to Scheibbs, from there two options:

Either the B28 via Wastl am Wald to the B20, then via Annaberg and Josefsberg or the B25 on to Grubberg and then the B71 via the newly expanded Zellerrain.

Coming from Vienna:

Take the A1 Westautobahn to the St. Pölten Süd exit, then the B20 (Mariazeller Bundesstraße) 76 km south, either via Annaberg and Josefsberg or in Freiland turn left from the B20 onto the B21 and continue via Hohenberg and St. Aegyd through the Halltal valley to Mariazell (sufficiently signposted).

Alternative: South freeway A2 and S6 Semmering expressway to Mürzzuschlag, then via Neuberg and Mürzsteg on the B21 to Mariazell.

From the main square in Mariazell we hike along Schießstattgasse and Buschniggweg to the entrance of the Sebastiani Rosary Trail. We follow the Rosenkranzweg to the Mitterbach/Mariazell turnoff and hike along the signpost 692 on a forest road to the Habertheuersattel (1015m). Here we turn right onto trail 694 and walk a short distance along the Drei-Seen-Blick trail to the Edelweißhütte and then to the mountain inn.

We reach the valley either on foot (on trail 694 directly to Mariazell) or we take the 8-person cable car "BBürgeralpe Express" back to Mariazell.
