From Stadtplatz, we walk through Toni Schruf-Gasse, across Wiener Straße, past Roseggerstüberl, and through the Hotel Post courtyard, following a well-preserved section of the Mürzzuschlag city wall until we reach Rosegger Park.
Here, we keep left, ascending Pretulstraße, passing the district retirement home, and continuing along Pommergasse to the right onto Obere Berggasse, which leads us uphill to the forest edge.
The trail then winds partly through the forest and across meadows, passing the Brechlhütte and continuing uphill to Grubbauer.
Alternative Access: Those who prefer not to hike this section can drive and park at Grubbauer.
From Grubbauer, we follow a forest road (Trail No. 741), passing hollow paths, abandoned alpine huts, and barns until we reach the Moschkogelhütte. We then continue toward the high plateau, where we find the Peter Bergner-Warte.
From here, we descend slightly to the Roseggerhaus on Pretul, then continue over Amundsenhöhe (Trail No. 742), passing Ganzalmhaus and Ganzalm.
We follow the paved forest road to the traffic junction at the foot of Ganzstein. Here, we pass under the expressway and can take the Roseggerweg, which leads us back into Mürzzuschlag’s city center near Gasthof Lendl.
