The R5 cycling path from Neuberg an der Mürz to Mürzzuschlag runs very idyllically along shady paths away from the road and is used as a cross-country ski trail in winter. The trail is groomed for both classic skiers and skaters, and due to its location, it is typically passable throughout the entire winter.
Along this wonderfully quiet trail, there are also cozy places to stop, such as the Kaffeerösterei Jahrmann in the former train station building in Kapellen or the Teichwirt Urani in Neuberg an der Mürz. At Teichwirt Urani, you can also rent cross-country skis (please call in advance).
At the start of the trail, there is a donation box – the proceeds are used to cover the costs of grooming the trail.
The cross-country ski trail runs away from the road, with no significant inclines, along shady paths next to the Mürz River.
Recharge at the Kaffeerösterei Jahrmann in the former train station in Kapellen, where Barista Johann serves you coffee specialties.
