This romantically situated lake was created around the turn of the century by the Krupp family of industrialists. Named after the patron saint of hunters, St. Hubertus, the lake is a paradise for many animal species and recreation seekers.
The lake is about 9 km away from Mariazell.

It is a paradise for many animals and for persons who are searching for relaxation. At the northern part of the lake the church Bruder-Klaus-Kirche is located. A beautiful walk leads you around the lake – the restaurant Gasthaus Reininger- which is also called as “Wuchtlwirtin” welcomes you.
Enjoy the beautiful surroundings at a round hiking tour through the Schwarzwalster or at the Arthur-Krupp-memorial path.
The church at the northern part of the lake is the first church in Austria in honor of Nicolas von der Flüe from Switzerland. In the artful created windows of the church the life of brother Klaus is shown. This church is a popular place for weddings.
