Bruck an der MurIn the city of Bruck an der Mur, too, large fires repeatedly occurred over the course of time, who caused human suffering and material damage.
As one can see from historical records, which are often incomplete and partly destroyed by fire, there were in the years 1382, 1461, 1510, 1535, 1626, 1683, 1706, 1729, 1763, 1781, 1792 and 1803 unusually large conflagrations
Almost after every fire, the municipal authorities of the city of Bruck issued new ordinances, the so-called "Feyer Orders". These ordinances laid down the storage of highly flammable materials (hay, straw, wood), the precautionary measures, what to do in the event of a fire and structural regulations. Failure to comply with these prescribed rules threatens high penalties.
In 1857 the "Fire Extinguishing Regulations for the Duchy of Styria" were issued. As a result, it was repeatedly pointed out that better fire extinguishers should be purchased and that a certain group of men should be professionally trained and trained.
This development led to the establishment of the fire brigade of the city of Bruck an der Mur in 1868.
