After less than a year of construction, the city of Bruck shone for the first time with its new electric lighting at the end of December 1903.
In the decades that followed, the electrical works and operations grew with the increasing demand for electrical energy.
In 1922, the power plant, together with the sawmill and waterworks and the funeral home, were spun off from the administration of the city and placed under uniform commercial management as a municipal operation.
From 1940 the company developed into a versatile service provider in the fields of industry, trade and commerce.
In 2004, for the 100th anniversary, the E-Werk received a state-of-the-art and high-tech visitor information center that offers sensational views of the five unchanged generators.
In 2011 the Stadtwerke Bruck an der Mur were converted into a GmbH, whereby the city is 100% shareholder.
