More information
S6 Semmering Expressway, exit Mitterdorf. At the roundabout, take the exit towards Veitsch. Follow the road into the Veitscher Tal and turn right at the Dorfveitsch junction. Follow the Klein-Veitsch-Straße until the intersection at Kaiblinggraben - Alpenbachgraben, turn right into Alpenbachgraben, and drive until you reach the barrier.
We park our car in front of the barrier in Alpenbachgraben and hike up the forest road towards Karoluskreuz. However, a few meters before Karoluskreuz, we turn right and reach the Hocheck Alm. From here, we continue on Path 481, but at the first junction after Hocheck Alm, we turn right and reach the Hofalm. The path from Hofalm leads us directly back to the barrier and the parking lot.
Take the train to Mitterdorf station, then take the bus into the Veitscher Tal. Timetable information can be found at www.verbundlinie.at or www.oebb.at.
Free parking is available at the parking lot in Alpenbachgraben before the barrier.
